Ever wonder what's in Frisco sauce?

There are different theories on what exactly goes into this top secret sauce from Steak n Shake. It's unique smoothness and savory flavor has earn it a spot among other famous "secret sauce" recipes like Big Mac sauce and that delicious "yum yum" sauce that often comes with takeout.

But what takes Frisco sauce over the top is its simplicity. Only the chefs and flavor experts in Steak n Shakes test kitchen know for sure what goes into this sauce, but most copycat recipe experts have figured out that it's probably just a combination of thousand island dressing and Russian dressing. Seriously! That's it.

Other recipes call for a little bit of French dressing and even ketchup and pickle relish, but thousand island and Russian dressing are the core of it. Now that you know this essential copycat recipe secret, give it a try for yourself to see if you can perfect this sauce the next time you make this Steak n Shake copycat recipe.

I can't wait to try this at home! This is what I usually order from Steak n' Shake, so I know it's going to be a hit at my house.

I'm so glad I found this recipe! The Steak n' Shake near my house has terrible service, but I love their Frisco melts. This recipe looks a lot less greasy too. I'll probably do it without the onions though.
