A lot of supermarkets still sell soup bones, which can easily be roasted and then simmered to make a nice stock or broth for almost nothing. And the best part is that it can be frozen.

Please tell me where you get STOCK, not BROTH for a buck, for a 32 oz. Box. Even broth is getting pricey. A small can of generic broth is 1.00. A box of savory beef or chicken stock is almost 4.00 for 32 ozs. I prefer stock over broth but the price is ridiculous.

I agree about the price of broth. But I've discovered that most supermarkets still sell "soup bones",and when roasted then simmered make VERY cheap stock or broth. And it can easily be frozen. Just a thought.

I have several recipes for Salisbury Steak, but I'll definately try this one. I LOVE vintage recipes, and I like to try making them. I also enjoy the recipes for "Sweedish Meatballs", which people don't seem to make any more. The old 'Vintage Recipes' are the BEST! This recipe sounds terrific (especially the gravy). It's a lot like our moms used to make, or which we had in our school cafeterias many years ago.....a Real "Comfort Food".
