The Unofficial Mad Men Cookbook Review"Take a step back in time and enjoy the splendors of truly vintage recipes with The Unofficial Mad Men Cookbook. If you're a fan of Mad Men (who isn't?!) then you'll go crazy for this cookbook. From cocktails, awesome appetizers, to fantastic main dishes and desserts, there are so many fun recipes in this book it'll make your head explode. The mix of black and white photos only add to the retro old-school feel of this cookbook, it's truly unlike any other cookbook I've seen. Plus the full-color photos of the tantalizing food and drinks featured will get your senses going. This cookbook is also great anyone who's a fan of New York or just wants to eat like the New Yorkers do, thanks to the many famous Manhattan restaurant-style recipes included. I can't wait to make up a true Old Fashioned drink (pg. 11) and sit back and watch the show that inspired it all!"

"It’s not just about the booze and high end fashion on Mad Men; it’s also about the fantastic gourmet food.  Culling some of the classic American foods of the era, The Unofficial Mad Men Cookbook brings you the recipes from the kitchens, bars and restaurants of the show.  With a wonderful description of how the recipes were developed and where they made their appearance in the show, the authors Judy Gelman and Peter Zheutlin take you back to the episodes as well as back in time.  Reminisce with old friends and make Steak Tartar as seen in Season 3 Episode 5.  The book is wonderfully divided into sections – appetizers, salads, main courses, desserts and most importantly, cocktails.  Drink like Don Draper and sit back with an ice cold Old Fashioned. The best way to enjoy the new season is to eat and drink like the characters. Relish in the idea of having a cocktail hour every night and enjoy this fantastic cookbook. "

"I’m always a sucker for companion books—they really do help you engage and feel a part of the story. The Unofficial Mad Men Cookbook drops you into the underpinnings of the 1960s with themed recipes (including an extensive cocktail section) that are perfect for your next swanky party. Each recipe is introduced with backstory that relates it to the show and is usually accompanied with a classy black-and-white photograph, helping to make this cookbook artistic as well as practical. The color insert in the middle helps to really give life to the featured recipes so you really know what you’re getting. Interspersed with fun bits of trivia and history, this would make a wonderful gift to the Mad Men fan in your life."

"As a huge fan of AMC’s Mad Men, I was beyond delighted to stumble across The Unofficial Mad Men Cookbook.  Among delicious 1960’s style recipes and cocktails, The Mad Men cookbook also includes tips for a successful Man Men-style cocktail party, little history lessons that fans will love to read, and all the best recipes from the kitchen, bars, and restaurants that host some of Mad Men’s most memorable scenes.  In one of my favorite episodes of AMC’s Mad Men, Betty Draper orders an Avocado and Crabmeat Mimosa while sitting with her husband in a hotel room on Valentine’s Day.  I was so happy to find it in The Unofficial Mad Men Cookbook, along with recipes from her awesome Dine Around the World dinner party and Don Draper’s classic drink, The Old Fashioned.

Filled with the recipes that make Mad Men so iconic, The Unofficial Mad Men Cookbook is a treat for those who want to “dine like Draper and drink like Sterling.”  With nearly 60 pages of cocktail recipes alone, this book is filled with everything that makes Mad Men so deliciously good!"

"For a fun step back in time to the early 1960s, thumb through The Unofficial Mad Men Cookbook by Judy Gelman and Peter Zheutlin. Fans of the hit television show will be delighted at this cookbook, as it takes you into the culinary worlds of the show's main characters. Where this book shines isn't necessarily in the recipes, but in the context provided. Every recipe comes with a story, and every story is fascinating. I just loved how the authors provided historical detail for every recipe included in the book, making sure that everything included was as historically accurate to the period as possible. The recipes are cultivated from 1960s era sources, and the book even goes into the length of explaining where each recipe appeared in the show. Everything from appetizers to desserts is included, but as to be expected the cocktails are the big draw here. If you're a fan of the hit show, or if you are interested in some fun nostalgic food facts then you will thoroughly enjoy this cookbook."
