I never realized that buttermilk was the ingredient in this sauce that gave it its zing. I love this sauce for onion rings. I once tried it on crab cakes instead of the usual aioli sauce that is served with them and it tasted great. This is a very easy and quick last minute sauce but it has great flavor.

What kind of barbecue sauce is used? That would make a huge difference.
