Ingredients

  • 2 quarts grapeseed oil
  • 2 quarts fresh oysters
  • 2 cups cornmeal
  • 2 tablespoons garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Shuck oysters and rinse off any grit

  2. Heat deep-fryer to 375 degrees F

  3. Combine cornmeal and spices in a large plastic bag

  4. Put oysters in the bag a cover with coating

  5. Fry the oysters in batches in the oil

  6. When they are done, the oysters will float and be golden brown

  7. Drain on a towel and serve immediately
