Of all the Olive Garden copycat recipes, this one's got to be my favorite. If you like creamy pastas, you'll go crazy for Olive Garden's Chicken Alfredo. It's ultra rich and tastes just as good the next day, if not better. This Olive Garden recipe is incredibly easy to make, even for beginner cooks. It makes a great "throw-together" dish when you are short on time. Kids will gobble this pasta dish up and adults will be singing your praises for months! If you prefer, you can adjust the recipe to be less rich by leaving out the eggs yolks. Either way, this Italian restaurant dish will taste amazing. If you need a good weeknight dinner, this recipe is a great choice. It is quick and easy to make, but it will taste like you spent a much longer time preparing it.

NotesSubstitutions: You may omit the egg yolks from the recipe to make your dish less rich.

Easy

Ingredients

  • 1 pound fettuchine
  • 2 pounds chicken breast or strips
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/4 cup butter (1/2 stick)
  • 1/2 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup white wine
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 3/4 cup Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried parsley flakes
  • salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Lightly season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper. Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a skillet. Sautee the chicken breasts over medium heat until cooked through. Set aside the cooked chicken.

  2. In a heavy bottom saucepan, heat ¼ cup butter and add the chopped onion. Let the onion simmer for 2 minutes, then add the minced garlic. Let simmer one more minute.

  3. Add the wine and heat until the alcohol cooks off, about 2 minutes. Continue stirring throughout.

  4. Place egg yolks in a separate bowl and slowly whip in a portion of the hot cream mixture. Slowly add egg yolk mixture back into remaining cream mixture in the saucepan. Place the saucepan back on very low heat and stir until simmering. Add the Parmesan cheese and stir until thick, about 1 minute.

  5. Add the dried parsley flakes and season to taste with salt and black pepper. Serve over your favorite pasta.

With a family of 6 budget friendly is always very welcome indeed and this is an example of a really good budget friendly dish. Lovely flavors in this dish and I love the separated eggs aspect, a la carbonara. It is a really easy to make dish that the whole family will enjoy just like ours did.

This definitely sounds like a 5 dish to me, even though I haven't yet made it. It isn't nearly as offensive to the waistline as some of the other recipes which I've seen for Chicken Alfredo, so I'll definitely try this recipe very soon. If I eliminate the egg yolks, should I then substitute the equivalent amount of Egg Beaters?

I've tried Pizza Hut and Yellow Cab's Chicken Alfredo and they're good. It's time to try this Copycat Olive Garden's Chicken Alfredo. Looking at the recipe, I can sense its creamy goodness and tasty flavor of this chicken alfredo recipe. Thanks for this recipe.

This Olive Garden Chicken Alfredo is all I order when I go there. It is so good and creamy. Just right. I have never made homemade alfredo sauce myself but my son makes homemade sauce but it is a little to rich. This looks like a really easy recipe and I am going to try this for sure. Has anyone made this yet? Is it too rich?

where does the cream go in

In the Olive Garden's Chicken Alfredo, how did the cream get

Years ago, they included spinach in this dish. It has always been one of my favorites.

You mean 1 cup of wine of course

Yes, thank you for spotting the mistake! We've changed the ingredients list accordingly.

This is the worse recipe ever. Too much vinegar. I wasted a lot of time and ingredients. Had to throw the whole thing away.

What recipe are you reading??? Definitely not the same one I am. No vinegar listed here.

It's really hard to mess up chicken fettucine alfredo-- it's always one of my favorite dishes, and this one was no different! Super easy to make and I loved the flavors.

I really liked this pasta! I would definitely make it again!

This dish reminded me of the pasta of my childhood. I loved how rich the sauce was! Fettuccine is always a treat for me, and from now on I'll be making this recipe!

When I clicked to get the recipe; all I got was a blank page ...

Copycat Olive Garden's Chicken Alfredo 1 lb. EACH Fettuccine & 2 bites Boneless, Skinless Chicken Breast 1 cup White Wine cup +1 tsp Grated Parmesan Cheese cup EACH Chopped Onion & Whipping Cream OR & 4 tbs. Olive Oil 2 Chopped Garlic Cloves 2 tsps. Parsley Flakes 1 tsp. EACH Dried Oregano & Pepper tsp Red Pepper Flakes Place 6 quarts of water in a large pot and bring to a boil. Add salt and pasta and cook until done. Meanwhile, heat a lg. skillet over medium heat. Add 2 tsp olive oil, cup onion, 1 garlic clove and pepper flakes. Add chicken pieces to skillet and saut until done, about 4. Remove chicken. Add remaining oil, onion and garlic to skillet and saut 1. Add white wine (take skillet off stove while adding the wine to prevent fire), continue cooking over medium heat until reduced in half (about 5). Lower heat to a simmer and add remaining ingredients except parsley, stirring until thickened, about 2. Stir in parsley. Drain pasta, reserving 1 cup pasta water in case you need it. Add pasta to sauce and mix. (If pasta is too thick at this point add the reserved pasta water) Place all but a few pieces of chicken in the pasta. Pour pasta into a serving bowl, place remaining chicken on top. Sprinkle with remaining cheese and some parsley.
